2024’s summer of sport is upon us, and we’re in for a real treat over the next few months. To celebrate, we’re diving into the archive to reminisce about some of our favorite summer sporting moments.
Wimbledon - June
Whether you’re on Centre Court, The Hill or watching from home, Wimbledon is an iconic staple of British summer. Filled with iconic moments such as John McEnroe’s meltdown (1981), Serena Williams vs. Venus Williams (2002), or Cliff Richard’s song on Centre Court (1996), the Wimbledon archive has so much to explore.
The R&A - June
The original Championship in men’s professional golf will return in July and will be followed globally by millions of fans. This summer, the 152nd Open will be at Royal Troon in Scotland. 1923 was the first time the tournament was hosted here for the 58th Open, and everything looked quite different.
Bundesliga - August
European football is a hot topic this summer. In August, the Bundesliga 2024/25 season will begin, promising another exciting year from Germany’s top division. Last season, Bayer 04 Leverkusen were crowned champions, ending FC Bayern München’s 11-year run in emphatic style, going unbeaten to claim their maiden Meisterschale trophy.
