IPC appoints IMG Replay, a global sports management company to market Paralympic archives until 2020.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the governing body of the Paralympic movement, has selected IMG to be its exclusive worldwide archive partner.
Under the terms of the four-year deal, IMG’s archive service, IMG Replay, will market more than 8,000 hours of footage dating back to the Rome 1960 Paralympic Games. The agreement covers the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang and the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, along with the World and European Championships for specific sports governed by the IPC.
“We are looking forward to working with IMG to maximise the growing global interest in Paralympic sport,” said Alexis Schaefer, the IPC’s commercial and marketing director. “Ever since the hugely successful London 2012 Paralympics, we have seen an exponential growth in the number of broadcasters and commercial organisations looking to utilise archive footage of para-sport.
“IMG has a superb track record for delivering success in the marketing of archive footage and we believe this partnership will be of great benefit to all involved.”
James Dobbs, director of rights and sales for IMG Replay, added: “The profile of Paralympic sport has never been higher, with the Paralympic Games growing into one of the largest international sports events on the calendar. We are delighted to have been entrusted by the IPC to market footage from their extensive library to broadcast platforms around the world.”
The deal sees IMG Replay add to its broad collection of archive content, which already includes footage from the summer and winter Olympic Games, the prestigious Wimbledon tennis championships, and English soccer’s Premier League.
